Privacy Policy for Pacely
Last Updated: August 28, 2026
Introduction
Pacely ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").
This policy applies to all users worldwide and complies with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
By using Pacely, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Data You Provide
When you use Pacely, we may collect the following information:
- Account Information: Email address (if you choose to create an account for cloud backup). If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive from that provider only the identifiers needed to create your account (a provider account ID and your email address); we do not receive your contact list, your posts, or your friend list, and we never post anything on your behalf
- Habit Data: The habits you create, including habit names, types (check-in or quantitative), custom units, target values, and the groups you organise them into
- Progress Data: Your daily check-ins, quantitative values logged, completion records, and habit tracking history
- User Preferences: Display settings such as light or dark theme, the layout you chose for the home screen, which groups you have collapsed, and which habit you last had selected
- Email Preferences: If you are signed in and choose to opt in to product emails (see Section 2.3), we record your choice — whether you opted in or out, the exact text you agreed to, its version, when, and through which screen. This record exists so that we can prove and honour your choice
An account is optional: Pacely works without signing in, and in that case all of the data above stays on your device and we receive none of it. Without an account the app does limit you to a single habit — that limit exists to encourage sign-up, not to collect anything, and what you record without an account still never reaches us.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
We automatically collect certain information when you use our Service:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, mobile network information
- Usage Data: App features accessed, interaction patterns, time spent in the app, crash reports, and performance data. This information is collected through Google Firebase Analytics (see Section 10.2)
- Local Storage Data: Information stored locally on your device through localStorage or similar technologies
- Account Identifier: If you are signed in, a pseudonymous account identifier (a random ID, not your email address) is attached to analytics events so that we can recognise the same account across your devices
Important: the content of your habits is never sent to our analytics provider. Habit names, group names, custom units and the values you log stay on your device and, if you enable cloud backup, in your private account storage. Analytics events carry only internal identifiers and non-identifying metadata: which feature was opened, the type of a habit (check-in or quantitative), the numeric target set for a habit, the length of a streak that was reached, and counts such as how many habits a backup file contained.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
Pacely is designed with privacy in mind. We do NOT collect:
- Precise geolocation data
- Contact lists or address books
- Photos, media, or other files from your device. Pacely does not request access to your camera or photo library. The monthly recap image is generated by the app itself, on your device (see Section 5.5)
- Biometric data
- Financial or payment information (if applicable to future features)
- Health data beyond what you voluntarily input as habit tracking information
1.4 Website Waiting List (Before Launch)
Pacely is not publicly released yet, and until it is, our website offers a waiting list. This is the only thing the website asks you for. It is entirely optional: if you never open the form and submit it, the site collects nothing about you at all.
If you do join, we record:
- Your email address, so that we can write to you when the app launches
- The platform you asked for — Android, iPhone, or both — as you chose it in the form. This is the answer that tells us which version to build first
- The platform you were browsing on, as inferred from your browser's user agent (Android, iOS, desktop, or unknown). It is stored separately from your answer above, because the two are different questions: this one only tells us where people find the site, and it never decides which app you are told about
- Which button you came from — for example the one in the page header or the one at the foot of the page — so that we can tell which part of the page works
- Whether you also ticked the optional box for occasional product updates. It is unticked by default. We store your choice together with the exact sentence shown next to the form, its version, and the date, so that we can show what you agreed to
We do not ask for your name. The form sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Joining the waiting list does not create a Pacely account, and the entry is not linked to any account you may create later — it is keyed to the address you typed. Entries are stored with Supabase, the same cloud provider described in Section 5.2, and are readable only by us.
What we do with it. Everyone on the list gets one message: the app has launched. Anything beyond that — occasional product news — goes only to the people who ticked the optional box. We do not share the list with anyone, we do not sell it, and it is never used for another company's marketing.
Leaving the list. Every email we send from the list carries an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your entry at any time at admin@getpacely.com. Because the list is keyed to an email address rather than to an account, deleting a Pacely account does not remove an entry from it (see Section 11.2).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
2.1 Core Service Functionality
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Pacely app
- Enable habit tracking, progress monitoring, and analytics features
- Calculate metrics such as regularity scores, streaks, and completion rates
- Generate insights, monthly recaps, and in-app notifications about your own progress
- Synchronize your data across devices (when cloud backup is enabled)
All of these calculations — scores, streaks, trends, the notification centre, and the monthly recap — are performed on your device from data already stored there. They are not computed on our servers and their results are not sent to us.
2.2 Service Improvement
- Understand how users interact with our app
- Analyze usage patterns to improve features and user experience
- Identify and fix technical issues, bugs, and performance problems
- Develop new features and functionality
2.3 Communication
- Send important updates about the Service
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance
- Only if you opt in: send occasional emails about Pacely — product news, tips, and offers. This never includes third-party offers, and we never share your email address with anyone for their own marketing. This is off by default, requires your explicit opt-in (a separate choice in the app's settings — it is never bundled with accepting these policies), and you can withdraw it at any time, in the app or through the unsubscribe link included in every such email. Opting out does not affect service emails such as password resets
- Only if you joined the waiting list: tell you, in a single email, that the app has launched — and, if you ticked the optional box on that form, send occasional product updates as well (see Section 1.4)
Notifications. Pacely does not send push notifications from our servers. If you turn on the optional daily reminder in the app's settings, the app asks Android for notification permission and schedules the reminder locally, on your device: nothing about it is sent to us or to any third party, and turning the reminder off (or denying the permission) simply means no reminder is shown. The bell icon inside the app is a local notification centre: its items (streak milestones, "your month is ready", and similar) are recalculated on your device from your own records each time you open the app, and nothing about them is sent to us.
2.4 Legal and Safety
- Comply with legal obligations and regulatory requirements
- Protect against fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity
- Enforce our Terms of Service and other policies
- Protect the rights, property, and safety of Pacely, our users, and the public
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR & LGPD)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, Brazil, and other jurisdictions requiring a legal basis:
- Performance of Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you requested
- Legitimate Interests: Improving our Service, preventing fraud, and ensuring security
- Consent: When we ask for your explicit consent for specific processing activities. Product emails (Section 2.3) and the website waiting list (Section 1.4) rely exclusively on this basis: we only write to you if you asked us to, and withdrawing your consent stops it
- Legal Obligation: When required by law to process your data
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Data Storage
- Local Storage: By default, your habit data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage
- Cloud Storage: If you enable cloud backup, your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (infrastructure hosted on AWS). Each account can only read and write its own rows
- Analytics Data: Pseudonymous usage data is processed by Google LLC through Firebase Analytics
- Temporary Files: When you share a monthly recap, the generated image is written to the app's private cache folder for a moment so that it can be handed to your device's share menu. It is not uploaded anywhere and the operating system clears this folder on its own (see Section 5.5)
- Device Backup: Pacely takes part in Android's automatic backup, but the storage the app actually keeps your data in is not included in it. In practice neither your habits and records nor your login session are copied to your Google account, and an app reinstalled from a backup starts empty — you restore your data by signing in, if you use cloud backup, or by importing a file you exported (see Section 11.1). You can also exclude Pacely from device backup altogether in your device's backup settings
- Data Location: Cloud and analytics data may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate
4.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption of data in transit using SSL/TLS protocols
- Encryption of data at rest on our cloud servers
- Regular security assessments and updates
- Access controls and authentication mechanisms
- Monitoring for unauthorized access or security breaches
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
5.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data
Pacely does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
5.2 Service Providers
We share your information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our Service:
- Cloud Infrastructure: Supabase Inc. (database, authentication and cloud storage; infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services)
- Analytics: Google LLC, through Google Firebase Analytics, to understand app usage. Analytics events do not include the content of your habits or your email address. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Sign-In Providers: If you choose to sign in with a third-party provider, that provider processes the sign-in and tells us which account authenticated. Google is the only such provider offered at the moment; Facebook sign-in is built into the app but currently switched off, and this paragraph will govern it if we turn it on. This happens only if you tap those buttons, and it necessarily reveals to that provider that you use Pacely. See Google's privacy policy and Meta's privacy policy
- Crash and Error Reporting: We do not use a separate crash-reporting company. When the app hits an unexpected error, it reports the error message and the technical stack of the screen involved — both shortened, and carrying no habit content — to Firebase Analytics as an ordinary event
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
5.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to:
- Valid legal processes (court orders, subpoenas, search warrants)
- Government or regulatory requests
- Protection of our rights, property, or safety
- Prevention of fraud or illegal activities
5.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change and provide choices regarding your data.
5.5 Content You Choose to Share (Monthly Recap)
Pacely can turn a finished month into a shareable image (the "monthly recap"). Because this is the one feature that can move your information outside the app, we describe it in detail.
How the image is made. The recap is drawn by the app itself, on your device, from records that are already stored there. Nothing is uploaded to us in order to create it, no server is involved, and we do not keep a copy. The recap is available for closed months only.
You choose what the recap is about. The recap screen is a carousel of cards for the month that just closed: an overview card covering all of your habits together, plus one card for each individual habit you recorded that month. You swipe to the card you want and share that one. The two kinds of card do not contain the same information — a single-habit card names the habit it is about. Which card you share is your choice, and it decides how much the image reveals.
What every recap image contains. Aggregated figures about your own activity:
- The month and year
- A grid showing how busy each day of that month was, relative to your own busiest day
- Your consistency score at the close of the month, and how many points it moved compared with the previous month
- How many days of the month had at least one record
- Your longest streak of consecutive days and the dates it spans
- The Pacely name and logo
What the overview card adds. How many habits you were tracking that month — a count, not their names. An overview card carries no habit name, no unit, and no individual logged value.
What a single-habit card adds. If you choose the card for one habit, the image is about that habit and shows:
- The name of that habit, as the headline of the image (shortened if it is very long)
- For a quantitative habit: the total you logged in the month, its unit as you wrote it (for example "142 km"), and how that total compares with the previous month
- For a quantitative habit: your best single day of the month — that date and the value you logged on it (for example "Best day: Sep 12 · 14 km")
- The streak sentence written with the habit's name (for example "You logged Running every day from Sep 9 to Sep 20")
- The score, active days and day grid described above, counted for that habit alone
So a single-habit recap does tell whoever sees it what you were tracking, and, for quantitative habits, roughly how much. Only the habit you picked appears: the names of your other habits are not in the image.
What no recap image ever contains. Group names, your email address, your name, your account identifier, or any device identifier. Beyond the best-day figure described above, the image never lists your day-by-day records.
Please consider this before sharing. If a habit's name is something you would rather not disclose — anything about your health, your beliefs, your relationships, or any other sensitive matter — bear in mind that sharing that habit's card puts its name, and the figures for it, into the hands of whoever receives the image. The overview card is the option that names nothing. You can also rename a habit in the app before generating the recap.
How it leaves the app. Sharing is always started by you, by tapping the share button. When you do, the app writes the image to its own private cache folder for a moment and passes it to your device's standard share menu, so that you can choose where it goes. The file is named after the month and, for a single-habit recap, after the habit as well (for example "pacely-2026-07-running.png"), so that name may be visible to the app you send it to. That temporary file is not readable by other apps until you pick one, is never uploaded to Pacely, and is deleted by the operating system as part of its normal cache cleanup. If your device or browser has no share menu, the app simply shows you the image on screen so that you can save it yourself; in that case nothing leaves the app at all.
After you share it. Once you choose a destination — a messaging app, a social network, your gallery, email — the image is in that app's hands and is governed by that company's privacy policy, not by ours. We have no visibility into where you sent it, no way to recall it, and no control over how the receiving service stores, displays, or distributes it. Anything you post publicly may be seen, saved, or reshared by others. Please consider this before posting a recap to a public audience.
We do not know that you shared. Pacely does not record which recaps you shared, when, or with whom, and this information is not sent to our analytics provider.
6. Your Privacy Rights
6.1 Rights Under GDPR (EEA & UK Users)
You have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction: Limit how we process your data
- Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
- Lodge a Complaint: File a complaint with your local data protection authority
6.2 Rights Under LGPD (Brazil Users)
Brazilian users have similar rights, including:
- Confirmation of data processing
- Access to your data
- Correction of incomplete or inaccurate data
- Anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary data
- Data portability
- Information about public and private entities with which we share data
- Information about the possibility of denying consent
- Revocation of consent
6.3 Rights Under CCPA (California Users)
California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
6.4 Exercising Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (see Section 11.2). For any other request, please contact us at admin@getpacely.com. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days for GDPR, 15 days for LGPD).
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy:
- Active Account: Your data is retained while you actively use the Service
- Account Deletion: When you delete your account through the app, your cloud data is removed immediately and any residual personal data is deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law
- Backup Data: Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days in our backup systems
- Waiting List: An entry is kept until the launch message has been sent, or until you ask to be removed — whichever comes first. If you ticked the optional box for product updates, we keep the address until you unsubscribe. The record of the sentence you agreed to and the date is kept for as long as the address is on the list, because it is the proof of your consent
- Legal Requirements: We may retain certain data longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., dispute resolution)
8. International Data Transfers
If you access Pacely from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred internationally. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Adequacy decisions recognized by data protection authorities
- Other legally approved transfer mechanisms
9. Children's Privacy
Pacely is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
10.1 Local Storage
Pacely primarily uses localStorage, a browser technology that stores data locally on your device. This is not a cookie and does not track you across websites.
10.2 Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Firebase Analytics collects pseudonymous usage events (such as which features are opened, or that a streak milestone was reached) and basic device information. If you are signed in, a pseudonymous account identifier is attached to those events so we can tell one account's sessions apart across devices. Firebase Analytics does not receive habit or group names, custom units, the values you log, your monthly recap, or your email address, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.
Analytics data is processed by Google LLC and may be stored in the United States. To opt out of analytics collection, contact us at admin@getpacely.com. You can learn more in Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
10.3 Third-Party Advertising
Our app does not integrate third-party advertising networks. If this changes, we will update this policy and seek your consent where required.
10.4 Our Website
Our public website (including this page) does not use cookies and does not run analytics. The one thing it asks you for is the waiting-list form described in Section 1.4, which collects nothing unless you choose to fill it in and submit it.
The site loads styling and font files from third-party content delivery networks, which means those providers receive your IP address and browser type in order to serve the files — the same information any website you visit receives. We do not receive or store it.
11. Your Choices and Controls
11.1 Data Export and Import
You can export your habit data at any time using the built-in backup functionality (menu → Export Data). This provides you with a complete copy of your habits, groups, records and display preferences in JSON format. You can restore such a file later through the import option.
The exported file is plain, unencrypted JSON and is saved wherever you choose. Once it is on your device it is outside our control, so store and send it with the same care you would give any personal document.
11.2 Data and Account Deletion
- Account Deletion (in-app): You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app: open the side menu and tap Settings → Account → Delete account. This immediately removes your cloud data (habits, check-ins, groups) and your login account, and also clears the data stored on your device
- Deletion Without the App: If you have uninstalled Pacely or cannot sign in, you can request deletion at getpacely.com/delete-account, which also details what is deleted and what is retained
- Local Data: You can delete all local data by clearing your browser's storage or uninstalling the app
- Waiting List: The website waiting list is keyed to an email address rather than to an account, so deleting your account does not remove an entry from it. Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send from the list, or write to admin@getpacely.com, and we will delete the entry
- Deletion by Request: You may also request deletion of your data by contacting us at admin@getpacely.com
11.3 Opt-Out Options
- Cloud Backup: You can choose not to create an account and keep all data on your device
- Sharing: The monthly recap is only generated and shared when you ask for it. If you never tap share, no image ever leaves the app (see Section 5.5)
- Daily Reminder: The local reminder is off until you switch it on, and you can switch it off again at any time in Settings → Notifications & Email, or by revoking the notification permission in your device settings
- Notification Centre: The in-app bell can be cleared or dismissed item by item; there are no push notifications to disable
- Waiting List: Joining is optional, the product-updates box on it is unticked by default, and every email from the list carries an unsubscribe link (see Section 1.4)
- Device Backup: You can exclude Pacely from your device's automatic backup in your operating system's backup settings
- Analytics: You can opt out of analytics collection by contacting us (see Section 10.2)
12. Third-Party Links and Destinations
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., app stores, support documentation). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
The same applies to any app you send a monthly recap to through your device's share menu: from the moment you choose it, that app's own privacy policy governs the image (see Section 5.5).
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Publishing the new Privacy Policy at this address and on our store listing
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Sending you a notification (if you have provided contact information)
Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
14. Contact Information
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us:
Email: admin@getpacely.com
Data Controller: Tassyo Clemente De Pietro, operating as Pacely
Response Times
We aim to respond to all privacy-related inquiries within:
